Cebu Pacific has introduced direct flights between Manila and Chiang Mai, Thailand, launching the route on October 29 and becoming the first Philippine airline to offer this direct service. The flights, operating three times a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays—will make travel to Chiang Mai significantly faster, cutting travel time by up to eight hours and reducing costs by 64 percent.
The new route is expected to attract Filipino travelers keen on experiencing Chiang Mai’s rich cultural offerings, including the famous Lantern Festival, local Thai handicrafts, and the historic Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. Cebu Pacific’s inaugural event at Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) welcomed dignitaries, including Thai Ambassador to the Philippines, Tull Traisorat, and Thailand Tourism Authority representative Yatika Kaewborisoot.
Cebu Pacific President and Chief Commercial Officer Xander Lao highlighted the airline’s dedication to expanding travel options for Filipinos, stating, “For years, Cebu Pacific has been dedicated to connecting Filipinos not only to essential destinations but also to places that were previously difficult to reach.” Lao emphasized that the Manila-Chiang Mai route reflects Cebu Pacific’s mission to make air travel accessible for all travelers, further expanding their international network.
This new route is expected to foster greater tourism and cultural exchanges between the Philippines and Thailand, offering Filipinos more affordable and convenient options to explore one of Southeast Asia's popular destination.
