La Union's tourism revenue soared to ₱1.06 billion in 2024, up 3% from 2023's ₱1.03 billion, according to the La Union Provincial Tourism Office (LUPTO). This increase is attributed to the 539,824 tourist arrivals in 2024.
Gov. Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David attributed the growth to visitors' continued love for La Union, thanking them for making the province their preferred destination.
LUPTO's Julius Manabat noted that the data came from overnight visitors at various accommodations, with an increased average length of stay. The top three most visited destinations were San Juan town (211,234 visitors), City of San Fernando (105,730 visitors), and Bauang (105,527 visitors).

The highest tourist arrivals were recorded in April, with 56,194 visitors enjoying La Union's beaches, ecotourism sites, and other attractions. La Union's road accessibility and popularity as a weekend destination contributed to the influx.
The La Union Wonders And Adventure, Visitor Experience Survey (LU WAVES) showed that La Union attracts young adult tourists, mostly millennials and Gen Zs, with an average travel expenditure of ₱10,311. Female tourists made up 60% of visitors, while males made up 40%.
At least 93% of tourists stayed overnight, with budget-friendly inns as their preferred accommodation, and 68% were repeat visitors averaging five returns. Tourists from Metro Manila made up the largest number of visitors at 44%, followed by those from Calabarzon, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Ilocos Region, and other areas.
LUPTO is preparing for the expected summer influx with Oplan Sumvac and thorough inspections of accommodations to ensure visitor safety and well-being.
