Negros Island’s successful bid to host the 2025 Terra Madre Asia Pacific is set to position it as a major destination for global culinary tourism. The event, organized by Slow Food International, will highlight Negros' rich agricultural heritage and dedication to sustainable, organic food practices, reinforcing its status as a leading figure in the world of slow food.

Philippine Ambassador to Italy Neal Imperial expressed that Negros' vibrant slow food culture makes it the ideal location for this prestigious event. He emphasized the Philippines’ readiness to assume a leading role in the slow food movement across Southeast Asia, especially in light of growing concerns about climate change and food security.

At the 2024 Terra Madre Salone del Gusto in Italy, the Slow Food Community of Negros Island showcased authentic Filipino cuisine, drawing attention with specialties such as langka salad, dinuguan and puto, Chicken House inasal, heirloom rice, and lechon. Negros was also officially launched as the “HUB of Slow Food Asia,” underscoring its growing influence on the global culinary stage.

Hosting the 2025 Terra Madre Asia Pacific is expected to attract culinary tourists and advocates of sustainable food practices worldwide, further helping Negros cement its name on the global culinary map.
