The Japanese Embassy in the Philippines is set to improve visa application processes with the opening of five Japan Visa Application Centers (JVAC) on April 7, 2025. These centers, operated by VFS Service Philippines, will be located in Parañaque City, Makati City, Quezon City, Cebu City, and Davao City.

Applicants can visit the JVAC from Monday to Friday, with specific application hours depending on the center. Parañaque, Makati, and Quezon City centers will accept applications from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., while Cebu and Davao centers will operate from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Passports and visas can be claimed during the full operating hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Starting April 7, all visa applications must go through these centers. Applicants can schedule appointments on the VFS website, which also offers tracking and premium services such as form assistance, a waiting lounge, and passport courier services. The application fee is ₱520.
Those applying before April 7 must still use the current process via accredited travel agencies. The shift to JVAC aims to address the surge in applications over the past year, which led to longer processing times and crowded agencies. This initiative is expected to streamline the experience for travelers heading to Japan.
