With everyone binging Korean dramas during lockdowns it’s no wonder everyone and their OPPA prays to all the skin Gods for K-stars’ porcelain-like skin. I, for one, am guilty of this. And it makes sense. Skin has a direct influence on the way we see ourselves and skin problems affect our self-esteem. Taking care of yourself includes investing in skincare regimens. “Omo!” is a Korean-inspired skincare brand that offers customized whitening skincare that caters to your specific skin type.
There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to skincare. Different skin types react differently to certain ingredients. Rashes, breakouts, and perhaps burning sensations could be the result of using the wrong products-- and you wouldn’t want to go through that. The first step towards building your skincare in order to achieve glowing skin is to know your skin type.
How To Determine Your Skin Type?
If you still don’t know your skin type, you can find out through two methods: the bare-faced method and the blotting sheet method.
For the bare-faced method, cleanse your face and leave it dry for 40 minutes. To determine your skin type, check the cheeks, forehead, chin, and nose. If you find that these areas are shiny or greasy, chances are you have oily skin. If those areas are a bit sensitive, then you might be prone to breakouts and itchiness. Lastly, when normal skin is flaky, then you might have dry skin. Combination skin types are when you can see shine on the T-zone area (nose, forehead, and chin) but cheeks are a bit normal to dry. If its sensitive, you see a bit of shine in the T-zone but it looks more radiant than just plain grease. If you have normal skin, your skin should feel nice and velvety.
To check your skin using the blotting sheet method, just pat with a blotting paper and see how much oil is absorbed. Normal skin should have tiny amounts of oil; not excessive at all. If all areas of your skin are oily including the cheeks, you have oily skin. If you have dry skin, the oil sheet will not have any visible oil. For combination skin types, the sheet used would have very little oil or no oil that will come off. The ones on the forehead, nose, and chin should have some noticeable oil.
