Siquijor Island has captured the attention of international travelers, emerging as the fastest-growing travel destination in the Philippines, according to Agoda’s annual ranking report. By comparing accommodation booking data from January to November 2024 with the same period in 2023, Agoda identified Siquijor Island as one of the top climbers for international tourism in the Philippines.
Situated in the Central Visayas region, Siquijor Island is celebrated for its mystical allure, pristine beaches, and lush natural landscapes. Its top tourist attractions include the Salagdoong man-made Molave forest, Cang-Isok House, and Lugnason Falls, which offer a unique and enchanting experience for visitors.
While Siquijor is gaining traction among international visitors, Bohol is the top trending destination among Filipino domestic travelers. Also located in Central Visayas, Bohol attracts local tourists with its stunning natural attractions, rich cultural heritage, and unique wildlife.
Michael Hwang, Country Director for the Philippines at Agoda, highlighted the significance of this trend: "The rising popularity of Siquijor and Bohol opens up new horizons for travelers to experience the charm of the Philippines’ lesser-known destinations. Agoda is proud to support efforts to promote these secondary destinations."
The growing interest in Siquijor and Bohol reflects a broader trend towards exploring and appreciating the beauty of the Philippines’ more hidden gems.
