San Miguel Corporation (SMC) has introduced a new northbound exit on Skyway Stage 3 at Maria Clara in Quezon City, designed to alleviate congestion at the existing Quezon Avenue exit. The new access point officially opened at 6:00 AM on Saturday, December 28, just in time for the long holiday weekend leading into New Year’s celebrations.
The strategic timing of the opening aims to address the anticipated surge in travel volumes during the festive season. “This exit has been long-awaited by motorists in Quezon City, who now have a convenient alternative,” said Ramon Ang, SMC’s chairman and CEO.
The Maria Clara exit will charge the same toll rates as the original Quezon Avenue northbound exit, ensuring no additional cost for motorists.
The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) granted an interim permit for the exit on December 27, following SMC's completion of essential operational and safety requirements. Ang noted that SMC's toll operations team is working diligently to meet the remaining requirements set by the TRB. “We’re deploying patrollers and road safety personnel to guide motorists using the new exit,” he added.
The latest addition is part of the broader Skyway Stage 3 project, which connects Gil Puyat Avenue in Makati to Balintawak in Quezon City and links directly to the North Luzon Expressway. This expansion enhances Metro Manila’s connectivity while easing traffic congestion, providing significant benefits for commuters.
The Maria Clara exit’s opening underscores SMC’s commitment to improving infrastructure and addressing traffic challenges in Metro Manila. With this new route, holiday travelers can look forward to smoother and more efficient journeys.
