US Embassy Announces New US Visa Application Process to Take Effect on September 28

The new US Visa Application Center is located at Parqal Building 8, Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard, Parañaque City, and will handle fingerprint scans and photo captures for both immigrant and non-immigrant visa applicants. Following this, applicants can proceed with their visa interview at the US Embassy.

Here’s what to expect: applicants must schedule two appointments — one at the new Visa Application Center (VAC) for biometrics and document submission, and another at the US Embassy in Manila for the visa interview.

The aim of the new facility is to speed up the process by limiting each appointment at the VAC to under 10 minutes. It’s expected to handle up to 1,000 applicants per day, helping the Embassy keep pace with growing demand. In 2023, the US Embassy processed more than 330,000 visa applications, a 20% increase from the previous year.

Applicants are reminded to be punctual, arriving at the VAC 15 minutes before their scheduled time. For the VAC appointment, all you’ll need are a printed confirmation of your appointment, a completed application form, a 2x2 photo, and your Philippine passport.

If your visa interview is scheduled before September 28, the changes won't affect you, and you should go directly to the US Embassy for your appointment. Meanwhile, no appointments are needed for those picking up passports or dropping off interview waiver documents.

The VAC will operate Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
